New Years 2012

Sydney takes lots of pride in their New Years celebration. As the first major city in the world to celebrate the new year they know the eyes of the world on on them.

Since moving to Sydney we have noticed a.... an Aussie obsession with fireworks. Seemly 2-3 times a week we can hear fireworks from our house. At he same time we had heard over and over about how great the New Years Eve fireworks would be.

Simon Macnamara, one of Tommy's friends from SEP invited us to his lovely home in Mosman. If you look at a map, Mosman might not seem to have a clear view of the bridge, but Simon's house is elevated enough to see the whole show.

On top of having a great show from the bridge, they also shoot off fireworks from the major buildings across the skyline. In addition, barges up and down the harbor shoot synced shows at 9pm and midnight.

Needless to say, a special way to bring in the new year.

Night on Watson Bay

Caroline and I picnicked tonight at Watson Bay. What's a picturesque sunset on a nice summer night in Sydney.
